Rumble in the Warren Street Jungle

Hey Ho Cakers!

Long time no speak. Let me take this first paragraph to apologise for my absence and lack of reports. I 've been round the world chasing my ex girlfriend who took my favourite mug with her. Yes i know what a witch!

Anyway back to important matters. Football! And last night there was a lot of it! The Cakers took to the field not once, not twice, not thrice but...ok it was just to two times but wanted to build up the anticipation.

We will not talk of the first game, which the boys lost, but we will talk about the second which, Cake triumphed with a 14-4 victory. And this result, after they had been 3-1 down at half time. The lads came out after half time and romped to victory with goals flying in from all over the place.

James Duffy who has now become so accustomed to scoring popped up with another goal and took off his top in celebration. The lads were not impressed, but the ladies.....no they werent either. Shame on you Duffster!

A cameo appearance by Danny B's 15yr old brother also added to the gloss of the evening, who came on and dazzle the warren street crowd with some silky skills! Apparently he had been watching his brothers videos on youtube for inspiration! I believe him.

Super Keeper Nicky H was a rock in between the sticks and even had a go out on field and impressed by cracking a shot off the post. "Streuth" he shouted. We agree with you Nick "Streuth" indeed.

But the night ended on a sour note as the Cakers had to say goodbye to one of their key members. Yes Cake ladies, The Adonis himself, Liam Barnes is heading back to the mother land on Saturday and played his last game for Cake.

Steve Cater said " Liam is going to be sorely missed. He added the power to the game that we needed and was always in support of the boys. On behalf of the boys, i want to wish Liam good luck and tell him, his spot is always here in the team ....(on the bench)"

2 more games for the Cake boys and then its Christmas time!

Keep going Cakers!

Top of the league? .....bothered!

Hallo there Cake fans.

First of all i have to apologise for the delay on this weeks post match report. Its been manic at the HQ so there has been no time. But fear not, i have taken myself out of the war that is my office to inform you on Tuesdays events.

AS im sure some of you already know, the Cakers notched their second win of the season, defeating top of the league Internazionale. Yes the cake lads were due a win after not tasting victory since week one and boy did they get it.

Cake walked away with the 3points after a 11-6 hammering of the so called best team in the league. A man of the match performance and master class in finishing from Willy P who bagged a number of goals (i dont actually remember how many) as well as a solid performance from all of team, ensured that cake ran away comfortable winners.

Cake had a new signing to show off this week after the signing of Duffy. No....not silky James Duffy, star player already, but his chromosome sharing, twin brother Simon. Simon brought a much needed controlled aggression and defensive sturdiness to the game and it was clear to see where J Duffy got his talent from. It was clear to see the instinct and link that the twins had with each other and it only added to the fluidity of the teams performance. Cheers Simon!

A massive shout out also went to the gaffer Jono Marcus who has come into the team and led them to 4 points out of a possible 6.

After the game Steve Cater said " i'm really loving playing for this team, the banter and togetherness between the team is clear for all to see, and you play your best football when its like that...." Steve went on and continued to get a tad too emotional but the rest of the interview can be seen on his personal blog.

Some positives outside of the game, Tim Whirledge and Dan Lambden have pledged their futures to the club and have told Gaffer Jono that they are fighting to fit and raring to go, so Cake fans could soon see the two strutting their stuff on the pitches of London.

In the Gossip news, sources claim that James Duffy Nick Henderson and Liam Barnes, went out on the 'lash' after the game and caused havoc on the streets of London. All three apparently spent the night in the slammer and had to be bailed out by the powers that be at Cake FC.

When approached Duffy said" I had no choice! you try and refuse two Australians who are teasing you with Fosters and didgeridoos, its impossible!!" Errrr?....no it isnt James, poor excuse!

Peace be the journey Cakers!

Cake need to get Nasty!!

Here we are again. A tuesday afternoon, hours before kick off, and the cake boys are struggling for a team again, but we wont focus on the negatives. As my Gran used to say 'An apple a day keeps the doctor away' ....yes that has nothing to do with what i am talking about but it is just something she used to say...bless her!

Anyways down to business!

Danny, Will, James, Steve, Nick and Liam are all taking to the field tonight in the most important game of the season. They haven't tasted victory since the first game of the season and will need to get back to winning ways against top of the table, Internzionale. They are going to have to be hard and aggressive if they are going to topple these boys. (Ask James to show you his game face)

It will be a tough game and the boys need to be on their best form to get anything our of the game, so in the words of Deniece Williams' Lets hear it for boys!!!'

Rumour Mill

I,ve been getting late night phone calls and emails from very valuable sources within and out of the team.

First up, Rumour has it that Willy P is a fan of the nations favourite weird looking lady, miss SuBo herself. Yes, will left his ipod playing on his desk and boyles voice was there for all to hear. When confronted on this will said "

"She's such an inspirational figure. she will provide us with the belief that Cake n Eat it can win this week,'' . Bore off there will be no boyles anywhere in the changing room!

In other news, self proclaimed "Adonis" Liam Barnes claimed he courted the entire german female national team while he was on trial at a new club, Hertha Berlin.

"Yeeeaah man, they loved it!" (ozzy accent)....Erm not something to write home about barnsey

On a final note two Cake players could be about to leave the squad. Tim Whirledge and Dan Lambden who were bought for a vast amount of Chairmen, Jim Dowlings, Mark Whelan and Chris Woods money, have not played a game for the Cakes.

Rumour has it that they are both looking elsewhere but no other club will take them. Boys, its cake or nothing!!

Goodnight all, Happy Caking!!

Im to Sixy for my shirt!

Yes the day after the night before and the Cake boys are still licking their wounds after a disappointing result. Cake drew 6-6 with the Bridge Street Rovers who were average at best.

Lack of finishing up top and silly mistakes at the back had the Cakers 6-5 down at one point, but a late strike from Danny clawed them back into the game, which in all honesty they should have won.

Lead by Jono Wenger the lads couldnt really get going in the game. It didnt help that every time there was a slight touch on the opposition they went down like lead balloon. It was about as good to experience as a fart in a elevator. Yep it was crap!

All in all in front of no fans, the cake boys failed to impress and would have to step up their game for the visit of the team who sit top of the league next week. Wake up Cake

Steve bagged himself 2 goals, Danny also added a brace with Will Pooping up with another......"but that is only 5 goals!" i hear you shout. Yes Yes Yes there was another goal, and that was scored by Silky and spectacled James Duffy.

Yes the duffman bagged his first goal and the excitement was there to see in those beady yet piercing eyes.

As the ball hit the back of the net, James tried his hardest to contain himself and i kid you not, this is what he looked like (see link)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_3DcAnU5ms

After the game, James gave an interview through his steamed up glasses

"OMG OMG OMG, i cant believe i scored! It was a sweet goal as i hit it on the turn and it flew into the net. If only it was on Sky Sports, I would be Sky plussing that all the way! ....wait is plussing even a word?.....errrmm oh well it doesnt matter. I ve got a taste of the good stuff, and now i want more!!....."

We had to cut james off after a while as he got overly excited and began giggling hysterically. See this clip on (www.itdoesntactuallyexist.com)

A source from the cake camp leaked to us that the boys are very disappointed with the lack of support they are getting. The guys really wanted the support of the imaginary cake netball team but have seen none yet this season.

The source said, "if the girls dont show their support and think we will support them when and if the netball kicks off, they can make the the MJ song and Beat it!"

Yes i thought the same, poor joke mr source.

Til next week, Let them eat Cake!!!!

Tuesday 17 November 2009

Bridge Street are going to get walked over!!

Cocky?, confident?, Arrogant? This is what some may think about this title, but in the words of Justin Timberlake, is it really cocky if you know that its true?

Week 3 and the Cakers are preparing to take to the field for what is scheduled to be another classic encounter.

The lads take on Bridge Street Rovers who have the same record with 1 win and 1 loss and for the first time, have a full team of 7!

Danny, James D , Willy P, Stevey, Nick, Liam are all the cake representatives and another ringer by the name of Grant has been drafted in by Danny.

Cake will be looking to bounce back from the defeat last week and show the world what they are really made of.

Aussie team member Nick Henderson said in the press conference last night

" Its taken me a while to get used to the sport. I'm used to chasing that egg shaped ball around, but this is definitely more fun. The lads are great, and its soooooooo helping with the lovely Cake females, I have 3 dates straight after the game, but i wont name names......(Kate O). Whoops!"

The confidence and happiness was there for all to see at the conference last night as Nick and the boys mingled with the press. Cake are ready to get back to winning ways and finish the season top of the pile.

In other news Cake WAG Jodie Butt who recently returned from her Cake sponsored holiday in Dominican Republic was stopped outside her favourite supermarket Sainsburys and asked a few questions.

Jodie Said " Im so glad to be back! being away from my Willy...oooh i mean my MAN willy . It was tough but i'm back and ready to support him all the way! Just hope that i'm not the 'Butt' of any jokes by the other teams supporters!

Don't worry Jodie, We're sure you wont be!!

"I like Jodie Butt and i cannot lie!!!"

Anyone ever tasted 'defeat cake?' - We have its crap!

What's with the negativity i hear you mutter? Well if you haven't already seen via Sky sports news, the Cakers suffered their first defeat last night, going down 10-7 to those hoodrats, 2 Fat 2 Furious'

However a number of positives could have been taken from last nights game. As stated in the pre match report, Cake only took to the field with the bare 5. They refused to make any excuses but 2 Fat had 8 players which allowed them to make numerous and continuous subs.

Even with the numerical disadvantage, Cake powered through and for 3/4 of the game, they were ahead. A tactical misjudgment at half time which saw 'The Cat' Nick Henderson swap positions in goal with Cater, proved to be a bad choice and Cake allowed the opponents back into the game.

At 7-7 the game was evenly balanced but the fatigue and fitness began to show in the boys and they ultimately ended up the losing side.

Newly appointed manager Jono 'Arsene Wenger' Marcus tried his hardest to G the guys up but even he could not fault his players as they show true heart and determination to almost snatch a victory which really should not have been a possibility.

Danny B and Will P got the goals for Cake with DB notching 4 and Willy P netting a hat-trick but neither of these guys picked up the man of the match award - That went to 'No Mercy' James Duffy who was here there and everywhere and really surprised the fans who knew he had not played in a 5 a side before.

JD showed silky and sexy skills and almost bagged a couple goals of his own, but the players and fans of cake could not fault his effort and could really see the passion in his eyes (He took his glasses off to play)

Cakers can walk into the next game with their heads held high and hopefully more players.

On a positive note, the lovely Zoe Stainsby who promised to show her support to the guys, showed up at the end of the game. Eyes did turn but it was too little too late. Zoe said 'Im disappointed for the lads and i was bloody cold, but Cake is in my heart and hopefully the next time i get to see Cake is not only on my birthday!"

Hopefully Zoe and the other Cake WAG's will show the same support for next week!
